Description

This cute Red Starry Paper Box may be used to house all manner of small gifts - sweets, pebbles, jewellery and more. They are handmade by Y Development in Chiang Mai, Thailand from Saa Paper.

The boxes are despatched folded - it's quite easy to just pop them up into shape. The base interlocks and the top pieces cleverly hook together.

Saa paper is made using the bark of the Mulberry tree, which grows well in Northern Thailand. It is often a by-product of the silk making process, as silkwoprms will only eat Mulberry leaves. As the silkworms eat the leaves, the bark is peeled from the same trees to make the paper. The Mulberry tree is a hardy specimen and the leaves and bark grow back, thus maintaining the status quo and ensuring sustainability :-)
