Description
Featuring the Cambodian-American psychedelia of Dengue Fever, the magnificent desert blues of Tinariwen, the Gypsy Punk of Gogol Bordello and the Tuvan rock throat singing of Yat-Kha, this album rocks!
Artists are mixing rock into funky hybrids all over the world and Dengue Fever, a Los Angeles sextet fronted by the Cambodian pop star Ch'hom Nimol, blend the rhythms of 1960s Cambodian pop – heavily influenced by American surf, rock and early psychedelic garage bands – with their own eclectic mix of styles. Another heady Asian blend, Yat-Kha's unique marriage of rock and traditional Tuvan throat singing is displayed on 'In A Gadda Da Vida', an out-there performance of a classic Iron Butterfly track.
Enhanced Added Value: This album contains a data track that includes an interview with the compiler Johannes Heretsch and travel information from The Rough Guide To Travel Survival book.
