Description
Chosen by children, for children, this album features a diverse offering of powerful music from across the Spanish-speaking world.
World Music Network, with the help of the charity Music For Change, spoke to more than a thousand children, who selected their favourite songs from across the continent. This album is packed with the sweetest Latin rhythms including salsa, tango, merengue and samba-reggae, and presents a snapshot of the most captivating and infectious sounds from Latin America.
More than twenty-six schools, involving 150 classes ranging from nursery to Year 6 (5 to 11 year-olds), from Kent, Surrey, Sussex, London, Hampshire and Cheshire (including two special-needs schools) worked to select this album. Each class was given dozens of songs and the students were asked to select their favourites. Tracks on the original selection included salsa, merengue, tango, mambo, son and numerous other musical styles that have sprung from the unique combination of African percussion, native music and European rhythms in Latin America.
'The results are eclectic and enjoyable.' Sing Out!
